Power engineers at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant have once again contributed to the rescue of the endangered peregrine falcon. In the prepared artificial nesting site on the 125 m high ventilation chimney, the falcon pair managed to raise four healthy chicks, David, Lukáš, Radka and Romana. This is a significant help in saving a very rare and endangered species that is protected by law.

The peregrine falcon is a critically endangered species. Since 2011, 163 peregrine falcon chicks have been flown out of ČEZ buildings. Currently, ornithologists have recorded more than 130 falcon pairs across the Czech Republic, 11 of them on high-rise buildings of the ČEZ Group.

In 2024, monitoring of peregrine falcons is underway in the localities of Dětmarovice, Dukovany, Ledvice, Mělník, Počerady, Poříčí, Proboštov, Prunéřov, Temelín, Třeboradice, Tušimice and Trmice.
