Ladislav Štěpánek and Tomáš Pleskač Remain Members of the Board of Directors of ČEZ

Through its vote yesterday, the Supervisory Board of ČEZ confirmed Ladislav Štěpánek and Tomáš Pleskač as members of the Board of Directors of ČEZ for another four-year term.

“CEZ Group is entering a period that is crucial for the further development of Europe’s energy sector. ČEZ is faced with cardinal strategic steps it will have to take to respond to changes in the energy industry in order to tackle the tasks set by its shareholders and the Czech Republic. It is important that a stabilized management team enter this period,”said Václav Pačes, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

In addition to a highly uncertain outlook for the European Union’s common energy policy, CEZ Group will face a number of challenges in the coming period: the price of electricity, and thus the profitability of the conventional energy business, is and will remain low while safety and environmental requirements, and the investments they will necessitate, will be growing. Advancement in technologies, primarily RES and decentralized customer solutions, will bring about new competition. This will go hand in hand with reducing the ability of the conventional energy business to be a major provider of dividends and fulfill its defined role in the national energy policy.

Both Tomáš Pleskač and Ladislav Štěpánek have been in the energy industry for decades and are recognized experts. Tomáš Pleskač has been a member of the Board of Directors of ČEZ since 2006 and presently heads the Development team consisting of the New Energy division and the Sales and Strategy division. Ladislav Štěpánek has been a member of the Board of Directors of ČEZ since 2013 and heads the Conventional Energy division.
