Information on NPP Temelín 56 / 2008

Both Unit 1 and 2 are in operation at full rated power. The auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.

Today at 21.00 o'clock, the Unit 1 will be shutdown as planned. The reason for it is the tightening of the internal sealing of an electric heater of the pressurizer. It is necessary to cool the unit down for the planned works. The outage length is planned for 8 days. Should it be necessary to replace the internal sealing, the schedule takes into account its extension to approximately two weeks.

Regarding the assumed balance within the power grid, the Easter period was selected as optimum, when lower requirements for the electricity consumption are expected.

Pressurizer
Equipment of the reactor coolant system. Its function is to control the pressure within the primary part of the power plant. It is filled to two thirds by water and the rest is filled with steam. The primary circuit is determined by the steam pressure in the upper part of the pressurizer. If the pressure drops electric heaters in the lower part of the pressurizer are switched on. There are 28 electric heaters in the pressurizer.
