The Tušimice battery tested well

A sudden drop in power frequency in the grid requires back-up sources capable of restoring the balance within 30 seconds. In their BAART project, ČEZ and ČEPS tested the connection of a high-capacity battery system for providing power balance services, in particular automatic frequency regulation. The first 16 scenarios tested simulated actual operational situations and conditions, including up to 37 activations of automatic charging/draining of the battery store per week – that is the balance of the battery located at the Tušimice Power Plant grounds. During the one-year test, its reliability and ability to quickly respond to frequency deviations was proven.

Power engineers use smart solutions to retain water in the region

The new infiltration basins at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant should contribute to the restoration of the ground water level in the locale in upcoming years. The power plant has completed its first, near the new parking lot. Another infiltration basin will be created during the construction of a new administrative building. In addition to retaining water in the countryside, power engineers also focus on cost savings, in particular in the form of treatment and new technologies.

Škoda Auto and the energy company ČEZ will build another photovoltaic power plant in Mladá Boleslav

ŠKODA AUTO is putting increasing emphasis on energy from CO2-neutral sources. To that end, it will expand its cooperation with the energy company ČEZ. Agreement was reached today by Thomas Schäfer, Chairman of the Management Board of ŠKODA AUTO, and Daniel Beneš, Chairman of the Management Board of ČEZ. From the second half of this decade, the energy required for the production of cars and components at ŠKODA AUTO production plants in the Czech Republic will be derived 100% from renewable sources. Another joint project of ŠKODA AUTO and ČEZ is the construction of the largest rooftop photovoltaic power plant in the Czech Republic, which will be deployed at the main ŠKODA AUTO plant in Mladá Boleslav later this year.
