Employment
  • There are approximately 2,800 staff working at the two nuclear power plants – Dukovany and Temelín.  In addition, our contractors employ hundreds of others to take care of the power plants.
  • Work at a nuclear power plant is suited for people with secondary or tertiary education, in particular graduates in technical disciplines.
  • In the future, the new block at Dukovany will be operated by up to 700 employees in many professions, primarily technical.  Before the new block is fully commissioned, we will be working to build a project team consisting of professionals focused on design authority, mechanical and structural engineering, electrical engineering and control systems, the commercial sphere (such as contract management, contract administration, and economic model), and professionals for the preparation and implementation of the NJZ (which includes investment coordination, site preparation, off-site preparation, implementation, commissioning, and operation).
  • Work at a nuclear plant is prestigious, very well paid, safe, and respected, offering prospects for literally many generations to come.  In the long-term, nuclear energy will play a crucial role in achieving energy self-sufficiency for the Czech Republic.
  • The Secondary School of Industry in Třebíč offers the programme “Energy Sector”, which was set up to assist with generational change at the Dukovany power plant.  Approximately 70 applicants enrol for the programme every year.  This September, the school opened the 14th class in the discipline.
