Education
- The new programme “Welding and Pipe Fitting for the Nuclear Energy Sector” will be opened by the Hněvkovice Secondary Professional and Secondary Vocational School upon agreement with ČEZ. This will be the first-ever welding programme in the Czech Republic specialising in nuclear energy. The school is planning to open the new programme in September 2023 and to accept twenty applicants. Graduates should be able to find employment in ČEZ as well as elsewhere. Students will be given practical professional training on welding equipment and in the material laboratory at the Temelín Training and Implementation Centre.
- For many years, we have been organising the Summer University at Temelín – special internships for students at technical universities, who have an interest in nuclear energy. Several dozen students spend two weeks at the power plant, where they attend specialised lectures and visit interesting places throughout the facility. The Summer University offers them a great opportunity to get to know every detail of the power plant, to meet experts, and to consult with people from practice about the theory they have learned.
- We also organise “Nuclear A-Levels” for secondary school students at Temelín. Students from ČEZ Group partner secondary schools are offered three-day internships at our power plant. We also offer additional individual internships for students interested in working in the ČEZ Group nuclear operations in the future.
- The general public and energy sector enthusiasts can learn about how a nuclear power station works at the Temelín Information Centre. In 2022, the Temelín Info Centre welcomed 35,210 visitors.
- Popular among Info Centre visitors is the ReakTour – a group tour of the most strictly guarded premises of the nuclear power plant in special VR glasses. It transports visitors to such places as the reactor, into a cooling tower, or to the block surveillance centre. We launched the ReakTour at Temelín at the end of 2021.
- Virtual tours of the plant, known as Virtuálně v elektrárně, are online tours of the Temelín power plant offered to schools and the general public. During a live broadcast, of 45 to 60 minutes, visitors are taken to places that even most of our staff do not get to see. The tours are offered free of charge, and they include a competition in which visitors can win prizes.
