Information on NPP Temelín

Yesterday at 22:30 o'clock, Unit 2 of power plant Temelín was switched off the transmission grid. The reason of it was the increase of vibrations in non-nuclear power plants after switching on the electrical ballast (device that regulates the tension on the network) in Kočín switchyard. Increased vibration values have been recorded by several sensors. Operators excluded an error of the measurement and shut the turbine down. The reactor is stabilized at 16 percent of rated power. Currently, inspections of the turbine are being prepared that enable to show the specific cause of the phenomenon and to determine next steps to be done. Preliminarily the outage is planned for two weeks.

Unit 1 should be connected to the transmission grid in the night from Sunday to Monday. Works on the back flaps on the feedwater piping in non-nuclear part power of the plant are complete. Currently, preparation for the pressure test is under way before the Unit startup.

Power Plant's auxiliary systems are working in accordance with operational needs of the Units.
