CEZ power group has entered another European market, namely the Scandinavian exchange Nordpool. Today/yesterday the company realized its first small-volume trial trade to test technically the process of trading at this exchange. "For CEZ, Nordpool is another trade platform, where we can sell and buy electricity according to our needs and the balance of our own resources. The entry into the spot market enables us to trade on a 7-day basis, namely with delivery in Germany, in the Vattenfall system," said Alan Svoboda, Chief Sales Officer CEZ.

Nordpool is the second oldest energy exchange market in Europe, the British Power Pool being termed as the pioneer. In 1993 it initiated its activity in Oslo, first with the spot and futures market in Norway and in 1996 it extended the sphere of its activity throughout Scandinavia. In 1998 Finland and Denmark were added. At present it has ca 350 members and in addition to the central exchange in Oslo, it has its subsidiaries in Finland, Denmark and Sweden. Together with the German EEX, Dutch APX and Spanish OMEL stock exchanges, it ranks among the most important European markets.
