Information on NPP Temelín 124 / 2007

The first Unit is operated at a planned power level. At Unit 2, the planned outage connected with the replacement of ¼ of fuel in the reactor is under way. All auxiliary systems of the power plant are working in accordance with the operation needs.

On Sunday at 02:27 o’clock, the operative personnel and the Fire Rescue Corps of the Temelín power plant received a signal of the electric fire signalization. The reason of the signalization equipment activation was the flare-up of a fluorescent tube in the containment surrounding building of Unit 1. The fluorescent tube was extinguished on the spot the called walkdown worker by means of a portable fire extinguisher. At 02:30 o’clock, the power plant’s fire brigade arrived to the place and performed an inspection only. The power plant operation was not affected by the event neither was challenged nuclear safety. The power plant informed about the event in the standard way via the State Office for Nuclear Safety. The event is preliminary assessed under the INES scale. It was an insignificant event but the obligation to inform on events of this type is a part of the Melk agreement.

The lowest degree is INES 0 - deviations, where technical specifications of the operation are not violated, to which is responded in compliance with adequate procedures.

· Reactor power is 0 %
· Turbine generator output - 0 MWe
· Electricity production since the beginning of the year: 2 975 006 MWh
