Information on NPP Temelín 154 / 2007

At Unit 1, a planned outage is under way, that is connected with the annual refueling of ¼ of the reactor fuel. Unit 2 is in operation at planned power level. All auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.

August 8, 2007

A fire occurred on the electric system of an auxiliary plant off the main buildings of the productions units (air drying plant for the low pressure compressor station) yesterday in the afternoon. The cause of it was the overheating of a valve at the exhaust of the hot air. The fire has been extinguished by a shift worker by means of a powder fire extinguisher. There are located 7 drying plants in the low pressure compressor station. Only one of them is used at the unit operation. The power plant informed the State Office for Nuclear Safety on the event. The event is preliminary assessed off the INES scale since it has impact neither on the power plant operation nor on the nuclear safety. It was an insignificant event, however, the obligation to inform about the events of this type (fire at the NPP Temelín site) as an integral part of the Melk agreement.
