Information on NPP Temelín 18 / 2006

Unit 1 is in operation at planned power level. Unit 2 is shut down as planned to perform the replacement of the high pressure turbine rotor.

January 25, 2006

This night, operators found in the containment of the shutdown Unit 2 a leakage in the controlled zone most likely in one of the manual valves in the line of the steam generator 3 venting. The coolant including boric acid is normally conveyed from the drain collecting system to a tank assigned for that purpose, which is located within the controlled zone. During the event, no release of radioactive matters occurred into the environment and off the controlled zone off the power plant. Neither the health of the power plant employees was endangered.

Currently, the technicians are cooling down the Unit 2in order to precisely identify the leakage, to investigate the event and to perform the repair. All auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.
