Information on NPP Temelín 190 / 2007

Unit 1 of the power plant Temelín was this morning at 03:10 re-connected to the power distribution grid. Unit 2 is in operation at planned power level. All auxiliary systems of the power plant are working in accordance with the operation needs.

The planned outage of Unit 1 has been shortened by 5,9 days by the turbine generator synchronization. The power industry workers succeeded in an earlier outage completion only for the second time since 2000, when the power plant started to produce the electricity. For the first time, it was in 2004 at Unit 2, namely by 2,5 days. The shortening of the outage has been positively influenced by troubleless mastering of the containment integrity test, of the physics and power tests as well as the performance of pressure tests in both the nuclear and non-nuclear parts of the unit. Thanks to an earlier start of electricity production, the power plant’s Unit 1 can deliver to the customers by 135 millions kWh of electricity more. This is an amount that corresponds to an electricity consumption of all Southern Bohemian households for 40 days.

In the course of today, the operations personnel will step by step increase the reactor power up to 80% RTP. It is at this level that Unit 1 will operate till the end of September and at which additional power tests will be carried out. After their completion, the unit will start to operate at full rated power.
