Information on NPP Temelín 83 / 2007

Unit 2 is in operation at planned power level. Unit 1 reduced automatically the reactor power in compliance with the design to 37 % this morning at 5:31 o‘clock. The turbine generator output was regulated down to 270 MWe. The reason of the power reduction was a trip of one out of two pumps of the circulation cooling water in the non-nuclear part that provided for the circulation of water through the cooling towers.

The reason was signaling of increased moisture within the pump motor. Till the completion of the event examination, the generator was in agreement with the power system dispatching switched off from the distribution grid and the reactor power is maintained at 30 %. After a detailed inspection, a leak was confirmed in the distribution of the cooling water within the circulation pump motor. The technicians started the repair and, after its completion, the unit will be re-synchronized to the grid this evening. The preliminary event evaluation is by the international scale INES-0 deviation. All auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.
