The Tusimice power plants´ site is changing its shape completely, it is preparing for the future

Technological equipment of the Tusimice I power plant is being removed and a total demolition is under way in order to improve the state of the environment, the landscape physique, secure safety, and mainly by reason of preparing the locality for future industrial usage. The goal is to clean up and prepare the site, which has entire infrastructure, for future industrial usage.

The total demolition of single sites of the Tusimice I power plant is divided into several phases. The first demolition phase is under way at the present.

Firm SUNEX s.r.o., which had won the tender, started a total demolition of the boiler plant, dredging station, coal handling, pumping station and a removal of technologies of the machine room, black oil station and chemical filter plant on April 4. The first demolition phase works are to be finished by the end of 2005.

The second phase comprises a demolition of the buildings of the chemical filter plant, black oil station and a chimney. The works connected with the demolition of the above mentioned buildings will be started by the winning firm Ptacek s.r.o. at the beginning of September, and finished by the end of 2005.

The dominant of Tusimice one, 195m high chimney, will be blasted down. The blast is scheduled for November.

The other phases are scheduled for later on. For instance, the machine room building and divide machine room are to be demolished next year and the remaining parts of the plant in 2010, after completion of a complex overhaul in the neighbouring Tusimice two. The physique of the plants´ surrounding has already improved significantly, after cooling towers were torn down.

The complex overhaul of the Tusimice II power plant, which has already been started, will contribute to the future of the site. The overhaul will be done in 2007-2010 in order to produce electrical energy and heat in the next 25 years with higher efficiency and even lower environmental impact.

The construction of the Tusimice I power plant became the basis for the energy platform development in the North Bohemian area, and at the same time the beginning of the era of building thermal power plants with 110 MW units, which had the most modern conception with parameters accordant with a high technical level.

The construction of Tusimice I was initiated in 1960. The national enterprise Prague Directory of Plants Building was the investor of the construction. The plant was designed by the State Institute for Energy Plant Design – Energoprojekt Praha. The general suppliers for the construction and technological parts were the national enterprise Armabeton Praha and Zavody V. I. Lenina (Plants of V. I. Lenin), national enterprise Pilsen, respectively.

The construction of Tusimice one was completed in 1964. The plant was operated for 34 years. Production was ended in December 1998.
