CEZ Group will give Bulgaria 3 million CZK material aid

CEZ Power Group will give flood stroke Bulgaria material aid in the amount of 3 million CZK. At the same time, Czech CEZ Group´s employees will collect money to help their colleagues in Bulgaria. CEZ will also provide a financial aid to Romania.

CEZ Group will buy needed antiseptics, special fungicide paint, wall dehydrators and other materials that are suitable for help to the affected areas. The money that will be collected among CEZ Group´s employees in the Czech Republic will, as a support, go directly to their colleagues in Bulgaria. A part of the collection will also go to Romania.

The Czech Republic still remembers very well the catastrophic floods in 1997 and 2002, which stroke hard our company and its employees in Moravia and Bohemia as well. That is why we do not want to remain inactive in a situation, when a similar natural disaster has hit areas, where CEZ Group operates. We have been in touch with our diplomatic authorities in Bulgaria and Romania to make our aid targeted and useful.  We also highly appreciate the initiative of our employees, who are willing to contribute to remove after-effects of the floods, said Radek Lasak, Member of the Board responsible for foreign capital participation.

Stolicno and Sofia Pleven district, Bulgarian distribution companies owned by CEZ Group, gave the Bulgarian Red Cross 30 thousand Lev, i.e. ca 450 thousand CZK last week. At the same time, their employees are collecting finance and material.

The floods in Bulgaria and Romania have already taken tens of lives. In Bulgaria, over 10 thousand people lost their lodgings and the floods have affected more than 2 million inhabitants; material claims amount to tens of billions CZK. Romania has been afflicted by the heaviest floods in the last decades. The damage has been estimated at billions CZK.

CEZ Group has been operating in Bulgaria since the beginning of this year. It also succeeded in Romania, where it signed a contract about purchase of the Oltenia distribution company in April this year. The foreign acquisitions almost doubled the number of end customers of CEZ Group to present 6.6 million. CEZ Group has come up to the eight place among the European power companies by this criterion.
