CEZ Power Company and the OKD mining company signed a contract covering the supply of electricity for the next year. OKD thus became the largest end customer of CEZ that will be supplied within the Rainbow Electricity scheme, supposing we do not count the distribution companies. The contracted volume of electricity is almost 1 TWh. OKD has thus become the largest enterprise to change its supplier since the opening of the electricity market.

I am glad that we have succeeded in the tender. I hope that this step will further deepen our long-term partnership, said Mr Pavel Hejkal, the CEZ Commercial Executive Director, in connection with this issue.

The OKD company is, according to statistics, the third largest electricity consumer in the Czech Republic, after the Czech Railways and Chemopetrol. On the other hand, OKD is also the most significant supplier of bituminous coal to CEZ, especially to the Detmarovice Power Plant in North Moravia.
