CEZ invested nearly 5 billion CZK last year

CEZ Power Company invested 4.9 billion CZK last year. The finances were put only into capital construction, excluding, for example, financial investments connected with the purchase of three Bulgarian distribution firms. The main attention was paid to the nuclear energy field, namely 2.9 billion CZK. However, this situation is going to change completely in the following years, because there is renovation of ageing coal-fired power plants in for CEZ.

The ongoing renovation of the control system in the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, finishing of the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant, where CEZ put into current operation even the second unit of the plant last year, and the construction of a used fuel depot in Dukovany were the biggest investments of last year.   Disposal of the building site and subsequent reclamation of the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant area are also important investments. The site accommodation has already been removed and the ground shaping in most areas has been finished, and it is going to be followed by green vegetation planting. At the same time, the close surroundings of the plant are being reclaimed and shaped, e. g. the Brezi manor park or the Krtenov town residential area.

Other investments went to the ecology and waste processing fields, namely more than 600 million CZK, and roughly 500 million CZK went to the conventional power plants.   Most of the brown-coal power plants continued the works on technical or biological reclamation of cinder sludge beds in order to return these pieces of land to the surrounding ecosystems.
