CEZ obtained trasmission capacities for electricity export

CEZ obtained necessary transmission capacities for electricity export to Germany and Poland for next year. CEZ obtained the capacities in a tripartite auction organized by CEPS, a transmission system operator.

The volume of exported electricity is not the priority of CEZ for next year, though. "We primarily want to focus on reached margins", said Alan Svoboda, Executive Director of Sales of CEZ. This year, CEZ is going to sell over 16.5 TWh of electricity to foreign countries, an amount ca 10 % lower is expected for next year, but there are expected higher sales compared to this year. Although the price for auction has increased by over 2 EUR/MWh compared to last year, the situation is more positive for CEZ because the electricity sale price in Germany has increased even more.

The domestic consumers also gain from the increasing prices. The revenues of CEPS from cross-border capacity auctions are used for price reductions of its domestic grid services according to the regulation rules.

"Coordinated auction, which took place for the very first time, has really simplified the entire process of obtaining transmission capacities, when at the same place we could submit orders for all profiles concerned (Poland and North-Eastern Germany) and  we also easily learned how we had succeeded", formulated CEZ  traders´ feelings Ladislav Kriz, the company  press officer.
