CEZ supplies electricity to Greece

CEZ Power Company has entered into a wholesale contract for supplies of electricity to Greece. Electricity will go primarily from the Romanian and Hungarian markets across the territory of Bulgary. CEZ Group has been present in all these countries for several years.

„Today we are starting to realize the first trial supply of electricity to Greece and will continue for the whole week. Although this contract is only for a small volume and for a short time, it is primarily important due to the fact that CEZ Group is entering a new trading market. 'If everything goes without problems, I expect that we will realize further, more significant contracts with our Greek partner,' said Alan Svoboda, CEZ Chief Sales Officer.

Greece has had a deficit in its balance of electricity production and consumption for several years. Electricity production in 2006 reached 49,8 TWh, consumption was 54 TWh.

CEZ Group deals in electricity in 9 countries of Central and South Eastern Europe. In addition to the Czech Republic, CEZ holds licences for electricity trading in Poland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgary and Slovakia.

CEZ Group is so continuing to fulfil its vision of becoming number one on power markets in Central and South Eastern Europe. The expansion does not take place only through acquisitions of new companies, but also through development of business positions and trading across borders and within single countries.
