Litultovice in the Opava region produces its own emission-free energy in a solar power plant located on a kindergarten building and consumes it in nine other buildings. Modern metering technology from ČEZ provides the municipality and local people with a detailed overview of consumption and overflows to the power grid. The project, which recently took 2nd place in the "Innovative Municipality 2030" competition, was created thanks to the cooperation of the Litultovice municipality, the ČEZ Innovation Unit and the Opava Region Local Action Group.

The total capacity of these 1,514 rooftop photovoltaic power plants reached 7.4 MW. Customers are particularly interested in solar power plants supplemented by battery systems. Last year, ČEZ Prodej installed 939 batteries at its customers, i.e., twice as many. Interest in heat pumps has also increased, with ČEZ technicians installing 1,118 of them in Czech households last year, compared to 514 in 2020. In addition to market growth and rising energy prices, the increase in the number of installations has also been helped by the fact that ČEZ Prodej has significantly streamlined the entire process from offer to installation and the customer is now kept regularly informed every step of the way.

The energy company ČEZ is joining the nation-wide project called Jubilee Year, a debt jubilee that enables debtors to free themselves of execution conducted against them, if their debt is to a public institution or a company in which the state has a majority stake. For people with utility debts, ČEZ is launching a special website, www.cez.cz/cs/milostive-leto, where everyone interested can find detailed instructions on how to proceed. This one-time opportunity is available to tens of thousands of debtors in distraint, until 28 January 2022.

ČEZ Group and Komerční banka today announced their strategic partnership for sustainability. The country’s largest energy company and one of the largest Czech banks will work together to reduce their climate footprint as well as their customers’ emissions, thereby helping the Czech Republic on its way to meeting the 2030 European climate targets, a stricter version of which was put forward by the European Commission this summer. Both companies have ambitious plans in this area: Komerční banka wants to become carbon neutral by 2026 and ČEZ Group plans to reduce the use of coal to a minimum by 2030, replacing it with low-emission and renewable sources in power generation. The first step in the cooperation of the two companies is an innovative model for installing rooftop photovoltaic power plants at customers’ sites. Komerční banka has also begun purchasing electricity from renewable sources from ČEZ ESCO.
