*Roof installations from ČEZ Prodej and ČEZ ESCO also help protect the environment Photovoltaic power plants operated by ČEZ Group in the Czech Republic produced 18.7 million kWh of emission-free electricity in the first quarter of this year. This saved 17,000 tonnes of coal and prevented the release of more than 18,000 tonnes of CO2 into the air. Since 2009, ČEZ photovoltaics have saved 1.4 million tonnes of coal, while 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 have not been emitted into the air thanks to their emission-free generation. These are the impacts that would be required to generate the same amount of energy in conventional power plants.

Tonight, Temelin Unit 1 began to reduce its power slowly. Operators will shut down the Unit for scheduled equipment checks and refuelling on Friday evening. During the outage, technicians will conduct 82 dozens of investment actions related to the plant's modernization. In total, ČEZ has nearly 16,000 activities planned for approximately two months during the outage.

This helps Komerční banka get closer to its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2026. The installation work has already been completed by ČEZ ESCO, which focuses on energy-efficient and climate-friendly solutions for companies, municipalities and the public administration. The photovoltaic power plant at Komerční banka’s headquarters in Prague’s Stodůlky district has more than 200 panels and produces almost 100 MWh of emission-free electricity annually.

The American company Westinghouse with a production plant in Sweden will also supply nuclear fuel for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant from 2024. Currently, only the Russian company TVEL was the only one in the world producing fuel for that type of reactors and supplying it to Dukovan. After the outbreak of war in Ukraine last year, CEZ immediately started negotiations to find a new fuel supplier for security reasons. Westinghouse accelerated the development and the contract signed today is the result.
