A major milestone of the new power plant at Dukovany

Elektrárna Dukovany II, a. s., a ČEZ Group company, received a permit from the State Office for Nuclear Safety today to deploy a new nuclear power plant at Dukovany. It is one of the most important preparatory steps before commencing the construction project and selecting a contractor. The preparation and elaboration of documentation for the licence proceedings took five years and comprised more than 200 expert studies and analyses. The key materials are available to the public.

ČEZ’s small hydro power plants increased their production by 16% and rewrote record tables, thanks to upgrades

Small hydro power plants from the portfolio of ČEZ Obnovitelné zdroje grew by more than 229 million kWh of power in 2020, which is a year-on-year increase by 16% and the largest growth in the last 6 years. Their production would cover the annual consumption of more than 65,000 Czech households. Small hydro sources are also beginning to see the effect of the largest upgrade in the history of Czech hydro power, in which more than 38 machinery sets, worth more than CZK 3 billion, were restored in all types of ČEZ Group power plants throughout the country.

Škoda Auto and the energy company ČEZ will build another photovoltaic power plant in Mladá Boleslav

ŠKODA AUTO is putting increasing emphasis on energy from CO2-neutral sources. To that end, it will expand its cooperation with the energy company ČEZ. Agreement was reached today by Thomas Schäfer, Chairman of the Management Board of ŠKODA AUTO, and Daniel Beneš, Chairman of the Management Board of ČEZ. From the second half of this decade, the energy required for the production of cars and components at ŠKODA AUTO production plants in the Czech Republic will be derived 100% from renewable sources. Another joint project of ŠKODA AUTO and ČEZ is the construction of the largest rooftop photovoltaic power plant in the Czech Republic, which will be deployed at the main ŠKODA AUTO plant in Mladá Boleslav later this year.

From the second half of this decade, the energy required for the manufacture of vehicles and components at ŠKODA AUTO’s Czech plants will come entirely from renewable sources. The next joint project between ŠKODA AUTO and ČEZ is the construction of the largest roof photovoltaic system in the Czech Republic, which is set to be connected to the grid at ŠKODA AUTO’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav later this year.
