Supporting Our Region
The Temelín power plant – a good neighbour

The ČEZ Group supports life in the regions in which it operates.

We invest in local communities through one of the country’s largest foundations – the ČEZ Foundation. We contribute to social events in the areas around our power plants and other operations, build playgrounds, and also safe crosswalks.

Through Staff Grants, we support non-profits in which our employees volunteer. In the South Bohemian region, we have thus supported 140 projects, by giving them a total of CZK 4The ČEZ Group supports life in the regions in which it operates.

The Orange Year helps develop community life in the vicinity our nuclear power plants.

Children’s days, celebrating municipal anniversaries, reunions of local patriots, as well as various sports competitions and social or cultural events.

Those are only a few examples of the hundreds of events that annually take place in the areas around our nuclear power plants under the Orange Year banner. According to representatives from local governments, this unusual project significantly enhances the activities of individual associations, sports clubs, and cultural and other organisations. ČEZ does not donate funds solely for the most important sports, cultural, or social events, but also for projects that “merely” involve local residents. And that is very important for community life, especially in smaller municipalities. In the Temelín area, ČEZ has provided more than a hundred million crowns over nearly twenty years. And municipalities in the Dukovany area received a similar amount.

Helping wherever we operate

Firefighters from the Temelín nuclear power plant routinely intervene outside of the power plant’s grounds. In 2022, they were called to a total of 23 interventions. These included primarily technical interventions involving trees fallen on buildings or roads, assistance in traffic accidents, but also firefighting and providing medical assistance in cases of injuries. The Temelín unit is comprised of eighty firefighters. They rotate in four shifts of twelve hours. They have four tankers and special equipment for intervening in cases of natural disasters. They are also equipped with top-level respiratory equipment, special anti-chemical suits, and suits protecting against radiating heat.

At the Temelín power plant site, a general practitioner’s surgery, dental surgery, and a post office branch are available to employees and people from surrounding villages alike.
