Daniel Beneš has been the head of the largest Central European company and Europe’s ninth largest energy company, since 2011, when he became Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ČEZ Group. He has been responsible for the company’s overall management and corporate governance, and for the substantive management of the Group, corporate strategy, ensuring the security and protection of the interests of ČEZ Group, and representing it, both within the Czech Republic and in the EU.
Under his leadership, ČEZ Group has been reporting steadily solid results, and even in a period of major changes on the energy market, it has been delivering a stable dividend to its shareholders, the largest of which is the Czech state. His management of the Group is based on increasing efficiency, following contemporary trends, and transforming ČEZ towards carbon-neutrality, in line with the State Energy Policy of the Czech Republic, which takes into account smart energy solutions and transition to an emission-free economy, including the development of nuclear energy.
He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ČEZ Foundation.
Daniel Beneš is Vice President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and also Vice President of the Alliance for an Emission-free Future. He was a member of the Climate Commission of the Council for Research, Development, and Innovations, of the Coal Commission of the Government of the Czech Republic, and the National Economic Council of the Government of the Czech Republic.
He joined ČEZ in 2004 as Director of Purchasing of ČEZ, a. s. From 2006, he held the position of the head of the Administration Division. In May 2006, he became Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Ostrava and the Brno Business School Nottingham Trent University.
