The Želina Hydroelectric Power Station
The Zelina small hydroelectric power station operated between 1908 and 1925, and it was restored to its former appearance in 1994. At present, it generates between 300 and 450 kW of electricity, depending on the rate of water flow. It is a remarkable architectural, technical and historical sight.
2016 was installed world-first so called “swirl turbine” on the small hydro power plant Želina. At hydropower plants with low gradients is this solution enable to achieve greater efficiency. This project is based on cooperation between science and research CEZ Group and Technical University of Brno.
